the Penguin, stages a play to seize control of Gotham’s criminal underworld
Plot
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, a.k.a. From melting makeup to shooting in freezing temperatures, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about them.
An umbrella falls down and the logo changes to the Warner Bros
The character was cast during the production of "The Penguin." Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022) but failed. However, for his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, preferring cigars.
But I watched The Batman a while back and this show did a commendable job of quickly re-acquainting me with where the movie left off, without getting bogged down in a didactic rehash
logo. Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024) Featured in The First Episode of Matt Reeves' Batman and I think those who haven’t seen the second one will be a little lost.
This character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own way
It recaptures the film’s aesthetic and grim tone nicely, but the show has many more moments of sly levity than the film. As in The Batman, Colin Farrell does a great job portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mafia "street kid:" uncouth, dirty, mercurial, and quick to violence; but also intelligent, cunning, and able to read people.
But so far it’s off to a great start
I have my doubts about the show giving Penguin a teenage life; and I don’t know if Penguin’s machinations will be enough to sustain an entire season.
