Kiefer’s father, Donald Sutherland, co-starred with Clint in Kelly’s Heroes (1970) and Svemirski kauboji (2000)
Tale
While serving as a juror in a high-profile murder trial, a family man finds himself grappling with a serious moral dilemma, one he could use to influence the jury’s verdict and potentially convict or free the wrong killer. Kiefer Sutherland got his role by writing to Clint Eastwood saying what a big fan he was of his, and that he wanted to star in one of his films before he retired.
It’s a great story, and along the lines of 12 Angry Men, it focuses on the jury
The superb cast features Nicholas Hoult & Toni Collett reunited 22 years after Nick Hornby’s adaptation of About a Boy, while Hugh Grant was on screen opposite him in Heretic! Nicholas Hoult’s performance deserves an Oscar nomination as he battles his inner demons to do the right thing.
Juror #4 is key to the plot
The American selection process leaves a lot to be desired, but it also focuses on the importance of good detective work rather than finding the culprit and then focusing on the evidence to convict that person without any proper investigation of other possibilities. I never give spoilers, as you know, but perhaps it could have been better written if the reveal and twist were kept from the audience until the final quarter instead of in the first quarter, which took away the suspense and mystery angle that would make this a must-watch 10/10 and you would leave feeling like there were plot holes there.
Bravo Clint 8/10 Pad
It’s a story about turning over a new leaf, it’s about life, death, loss and the pursuit of justice regardless of evidence and peer pressure from the jury. Provocative with symbolic emblems of blind justice throughout. A.
