Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their families. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a fervent Catholic who disapproves of her son’s cohabitation and makes her feelings known in the form of violent, religious-themed postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers settle into their exciting new life together. However, their happiness is interrupted by a strange accident that leaves Francis physically and mentally injured. Soon, he begins to suffer from night terrors, whispering in his sleep to a figure Olivia can’t see and moving to strange corners of the house in his sleep. These episodes frighten Olivia and suggest that Francis may be hiding something from her. Her investigation leads to a terrifying and twisted discovery; they are haunted by the ghost of Francis’ youth pastor, an entity enraged by their cohabitation and come to punish them for their sins.
