Well ladies and gentlemen, it is!
Mentioned on the Film Junk Podcast: Episode 973: Carry-On (2024). Expanding the video game medium with content created by talented fans with an unlimited budget seems like a great idea, right? The first 8 episodes were great, each one embodying the universe of their choice.
Have you seen the Pac-Man episode?
I’ve seen critics say they didn’t take any chances with the show. Because I have, and it seems to me they took a hell of a lot of risks there. The show is stunning, every art style feels well chosen and mastered (as you would expect from the team of Love Death and Robot), it’s a good sign for the future, hopefully allowing video game media to expand even further.
And in the world we live in, that’s already amazing
It’s packed with flavor without the annoyance of a show that sends me to every detail screaming HAVE YOU PLAYED THIS GAME??? It’s the first time people who truly love this game have taken a chance on expanding the media and pleasing us fans. But the beauty of it is that even people who have never played the games can enjoy, understand, and empathize with the characters, and that seems like a big challenge to me, and they’ve overcome it.
