Andy Goodrich’s life is turned upside down when his wife enters rehab, leaving him alone with their young children. Goodrich relies on Grace, his daughter from his first marriage, as he ultimately becomes the father she never had. "I wrote it 100 percent with him in mind," she said, “to the point where if he had said no, I would have buried it and myself in the yard.” A box of "Cinnamon Toast Crunch" continues to spin 180° during the breakfast scene.

Goodrich starts off a bit disjointed but gradually picks up steam, especially towards the end
The film offers several heartfelt moments, but the first act suffers from over-exposition that feels forced and unnatural. Instead of relying on dialogue-heavy scenes, the story would have benefited from more exposure of the relationship between Goodrich and his eldest daughter, Grace. Unfortunately, too much time is spent on the somewhat off-kilter dynamic between Goodrich and Michael Urie’s character (Terry), which detracts from the main plot.
For a second-year director, it was satisfactory
Furthermore, the film struggles to balance serious moments, often punctuated by forced witty dialogue that diminishes the emotional impact. Despite its flaws, "Goodrich" manages to provide a somewhat satisfying conclusion, although it could have reached deeper emotional heights with better pacing and character focus.
