This is a faulty assumption
Plot
When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with presiding over one of the world’s most secret and ancient events, the election of a new pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the foundations of the Catholic Church. Based on Robert Harris' 2016 novel “Conclave”. Cardinal Benitez delivers his summit speech in Spanish. It’s a bit of a stretch to think that all the other cardinals can easily understand him. All of the cardinals are fluent in Latin by default, and many speak Italian during other conversations in the film.

All of these languages belong to the Romance language family, so it is not an exaggeration to assume that the majority of cardinals have a basic knowledge of Spanish. And now… a movie for adults Robert Harris' 2016 novel CONCLAVE takes viewers inside the Vatican through the College of Cardinals' the process of choosing a new pope…full of political infighting, twists and turns and surprises.
This is partly due to the great actors that were cast in this film
And… if the average age of moviegoers I’ve attended a screening is any indication…" Adults" flock to this film. Directed by Edward Berger (ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT), CONCLAVE moves forward with aplomb, solving a mystery—not a whodunnit; but a "who gets it" – and it gets surprisingly tense. Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort in the HARRY POTTER films) is "Dean" records the events in his role. the cardinals, whose job it is to lead a disparate group of cardinals to a consensus selection of the next pope.
in the race to be the next pope
He acts as a detective and a helper as he struggles with his own faith… and ambition… while uncovering the plans and machinations of some “humble servants”. John Lithgow, Isabella Rosellini and a few others (mostly unknown) fighting for the “pole position”. Of particular note is the GREAT Stanley Tucci, who endorsed him as one of the contenders whose platform seems to be “I don’t want this.” but for those who really, really want it, don’t be surprised if both Fiennes and Tucci (as well as director Berger) are mentioned during the Oscar nominations (as mentioned above, this movie has twists and turns, and lots of fun with those twists and turns, but to be honest, I felt that this movie “went a bit too far” and should have ended/ended 10 minutes before the end (without the final twist).
I would have been fine without you being the judge
Well, some would say that final twist is the point of the movie, but… and joining other “adults” in the movie theater Letter Grade: A-8 stars (out of 10 ) and you can take this to the Bank (Marquis)
