From the first camera to the 45 billion cameras around the world today, visual sociologist filmmakers widen the lens to expose both humanity’s unique obsession with the camera image and the social consequences that lie ahead. A great concept for a documentary, looking back at the history of cameras and how they’ve been used over the years, which unfortunately doesn’t do or say anything interesting for most of the footage. For every thought-provoking scene, like the part where a picture of a victim of the 2010 Haiti earthquake is compared to a picture of several people taking pictures of that victim, there are about a dozen scenes after that that don’t make any sense to be here, like Bella Delphine interviewed by H3H3Productions and Logan Paul. “Fantastic” is the last word I would use to describe this total disaster of a movie.
